To give you an idea of my skin type, my skin is sensitive, normal - oily combination skin (mainly I get oily in my T-Zone and my eyelids. Yep I get oily eye lids and its super annoying, I have to wear a primer or a base on my eye lids every day otherwise the eyeshadows or powders just fall off my face haha. So while my eyelids are oily the actual skin around and under my eyes can actually be quite dry. As you can imagine if I don’t get enough moisture there my concealers just crease and will not go on nice and smooth. On the other hand, if I have anything too heavy I can sometimes get milia under my eyes which is a pain as well. Such a double sided sword haha.
Now I am no longer a spring chicken as I quickly approach my 30’s so of course I like my products to help with dark circles and also fine lines and that help to combat anti-aging. So for face and eye creams I have pretty high expectations and there isn’t going to be many that will fit into those categories. I have tried many different ones over the years, drugstore and high end I have just not been able to get all the things that I wanted out of my creams. Some of them have been fine but I had not found anything that I loved until now.
One day I was watching some youtube on my way home from work and I was watching a video that Shaaanxo had posted (one of my favourite beauty guru’s of all time… let’s be honest she is actually amazing) and she was raving about the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream. Seeing as she had similar issues to me I thought I would give this a go.
This eye cream can be purchased at the Bobbi Brown counter in Myer and it is oil free, contains mineral water, aloe vera, witch hazel extract, jojoba seed and avocado oil. It is light weight and absorbs into the skin pretty much immediately and it is built to be used as a primer for your concealer.
Within the first week I noticed a huge difference in my eyes. I have had no signs of milia, my under eyes are hydrated without being heavy or greasy and my skin has not been irritated. This eye cream is truly amazing and is also built to be the perfect primer for concealer and to be honest my concealer has never looked better. It goes on so smoothly, it is so much easier to blend and there are no dry patches for it to stick to. After using this eye cream for 4 weeks I am honestly amazed. My under eyes have never looked better, my makeup has never gone on smoother and the great thing is it dries almost instantly so no waiting time for applying my make-up.
I am in love with this eye cream and it really is a one of a kind. While is it a little on the pricey side (retails for $75 at Myer for 15mls) it definitely is worth every penny. A little does go a long way and I will defiantly be repurchasing this bad boy.
While I was at Bobbi Brown the consultant also gave me a sample of the Extra Repair Moisture cream to try. So over the last month I have been trialling this too. For me and my skin type I did find this cream a little bit too heavy for my face during the day, but I really love this for a night cream. It truly is a beautiful cream. This cream contains sunflower oil and shea butter which provide high hydration, makes the skin feel plump, fresh, soft and luxurious. It would be perfect for people with very dry skin or if you have skin like me it is a great night cream. I have noticed a new glow to my skin since using this product and I will most likely be purchasing this for my night time skin care routine.
I always suggest getting samples of creams first to find ones that you like and that work for your skin before purchasing and don’t give up. Keep hunting for that perfect one that works for you. The right face and eye cream will make the biggest difference in your skin and your make up application.
